Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude

Come to Village by the Sea, just a 10-minute drive from
Kennebunkport’s Dock Square – the heart of their annual holiday
celebration, “Christmas Prelude”. This charming seaside celebration
of the holidays has grown to a 14-day event with Champagne galas and
Historic House Tours showing off festive holiday décor. Local inns
and sea captain homes are all decorated to the nines in Christmas
spirit and finery.
Cookies and cider are served in the boutique and art gallery to
shoppers. Horse drawn carriage rides through Kennebunkport and Santa
arriving by Lobster boat are a few highlights, as is the red hat
parade. There are copious holiday fairs for you to stock up on Maine
made crafts and gifts for your shopping list. What makes this
Christmas festival so famous is the caroling and the tremendous tree
lighting ceremony in the center of town.
Christmas Prelude started in Kennebunkport in 1982, and has since
become one of the most popular times of year in this seaside village
where Presidents and celebrities vacation, with December visitors
topping prime summer weekends.
The postcard perfect village is stunning when it is all decked in
bright lights, bows and boughs to welcome the holiday season.
Kennebunkport transforms itself into a century old village with the
old fashioned spirit of the holidays. Like a Norman Rockwell scene,
